Meeting are held monthly on a Tuesday evening at the Berri Primary School. Anyone is welcome to attend, you don't need to be a computer expert. If you have a Linux related problem with your computer, you are welcome to bring it along. Most meetings will feature a presentation. After the presentation there is time for some socialising, and getting help from other attendees. There are no attendance fees.

Meeting 2: Getting Started with Bash with Pete Siddall
Tuesday, 8/6/2004 7pm, Berri Primary School

I'll give a talk on "Getting Started with the Command Line". or if you want to be formal... with using bash.

I'll try not to assume too much about everyone's knowledge. Hunt-and-peck grade typing is fine for this. We're aiming to get everyone a bash prompt to use during the talk, so it can be a "hands on" session. I want to limit this talk to the basics, and hopefully give everyone enough to get by. There's plenty of material for future sessions.

7:00 - 7:30 stand around and yak, Welcome, Introduction
7:30 - 8:30 Talk, 5 minute break in the middle
8:30 - 9:00 General discussion, unrelated questions, etc.

If you want to get a head start, check out Capel's Bash Top 10

Meeting 1: The Linux Desktop with Paul Shirren
Tuesday, 18/5/2004

We had 9 people attend our first meeting. It ran a bit over time as these things do. We are looking at how to tune the format so more people can be involved. Please post ideas to the riverlug mailing list.

There were quite a lot of things discussed in the presentation and in the Q&A session afterwards. There is a Meeting One Summary available.

Linux Conf, Canberra, 18/4/2005 - 23/4/2005

One of the worlds best Linux conferences. Paul and Rachel attended the 2004 conference in Adelaide. This is a must attend event for Australian Linux developers.

Visit linux.conf.au for more details.
