Remote Desktops and Thinclients
The next meeting is at Tuesday 19th April, 6pm, Berri Primary School
We will be having a look at ways to use a
from a computer over here. <---this one may be really small or have no hard drive.
Meeting on Tuesday February 15th
It is time for the first meeting for the year after a late start.
Please bring along questions, problems, pcs, whatever. If anyone needs assistance or would like future meetings to deal with specific topics, raise it at the meeting, or post to the mailing list.
As usual meetings are at 7:30 pm (the room is usually open before 7 if you want to setup a PC or something) in room 13 at Berri Primary School.
Meeting on Tuesday Dec 7th
It's dark, raining lightly, hunched figures creep from a building towards cars. They're carrying... Hey! Someone's stealing computers from the school!
Shirro advertised this one as "Free surplus PCs". It must be a coincidence that this meeting had a reasonable turn-up, I mean, what are old PCs worth?
We all had a good scavenge through the odds and ends on offer, and a few left with PCs that will live again, most probably running Linux. Thanks Berri Primary School, Shirro, and whoever. (I wonder if Kym is starting a Beowulf cluster?)
Meeting at Tuesday Nov 23rd
A few people turned up. We talked about the Ubuntu distro for a while. Someone remarked that there were not many games for Linux, and Capel spent some time showing that there were.
Oops, we didn't write up a couple of meetings. There's been about one a month!
Meeting at Tuesday Sept 21st
Bring along computers, distros, questions, or a presentation or just drop in for coffee and biscuits and a chat
The meeting is at 7:30 at Berri Primary School.
Meetings 3 and 4
Sorry for the lack of updates. Just to let people know what we have been up to.
Meeting 3 we discussed all sorts of things, and saw pictures of Carl's elegantly designed and constructed PC case. We looked at a mini-itx box.
The following meeting was during the Olympics and attendance was down. We looked at two linux distros in a fairly informal meeting.
Meeting 2 on Tuesday 8th June
Meeting 2 was great - see
Pete gave an introductory tutorial session on using the command line. Very well paced and presented.
19/5/2004 - Meeting
A big thanks to all who attended. The meeting ran a bit over time and Paul talked too much. But apart from that it was a good start. We are looking for more presentations from Linux users.
I believe next meeting someone may be organising a hands on tutorial session ;-) More details to follow. A summary of the meeting is now available.
